Social Studies- (Geography, setting)
Beatrix Potter was born and raised in England and wrote about her life their. The Setting for this story took place on the English countryside, a country field and a cottage garden. We decided to place our story disk on England. We read books, found England on our globe, colored a map, and learned all about Beatrix Potter. The kids also read other stories, watched a movie, listened to stories on Cd by the same author.

Lily and Alex did worksheets about Beatrix Potter and learned about important places in England, like Stonehenge and Big Ben. (To name a few...)

Art-(Vegetable printing, coloring, Stamping)
We made artwork using carrots, crayons and coloring. We first colored a piece of paper to make dirt and sky then we used the carrots to make the prints with washable paint!

Language arts-(letter making and copy work)
We wrote letters to Mr McGregor and  copied a page from the book in our best handwriting.

Science-(Gardening, Bugs)
We are working on planting our own garden. We planted seeds and are watching them grow. Lily and Alex cant wait till they are able to plant them in the ground. We also talked about different kinds of  bugs that help our gardens. We read tons of books and watched a gardening movie.

Mathematics-(Measuring, Length)
The kids used rulers to measure carrots of all sizes in inches and feet. They then traced the carrots using colored pencils.

Extra fun- (We colored a picture)

Field Trip- We went to Sandwich's Daffodil Festival. The kids got to see lots of different prize winning flower's grown by members of the garden club. They also heard a story, made animal tracks, touched fur and met a Rabbit from Green Brier Nature center. What a fun day!
