Summary: A little red lighthouse looks at circumstances and draws wrong conclusions. But, with the help of the great gray bridge, he discovers the truth; that he still has useful work to do.
This was a fun book to read in the summer because we got to visit a couple different lighthouses. We also watched a movie, learned about bridges and New York City.
We learned all about the three types of bridges- Standard, suspension and arch. We did an experiment using blocks, cards and pennies. We also read books about lighthouses and bridges. The last thing we did was color a picture of a bridge.
In this experiment we built all three types of bridges and used the pennies to see how much weight they could hold.
Mathematics:(Numbers)
The kids did a color by number worksheet.
Language arts:(Compound words, handwriting)
In this story their are many compound words. We went through the book and located some of them. We also played a matching game using compound words. Both kids copied the word lighthouse in their best handwriting too!
We learned how to draw lighthouses. We used colored pencils.
Field Trip:(We went to Chatham light house and Mystic Seaport in Connecticut.)
