Chapter 5- The Visit

Chapter Summary-

Betsy and George have heard wonderful things about the local printer-Mr. Benjamin Franklin. The children meet Mr. Franklin and have a glorious time of conversation. The children are very excited to tell there family about the meeting!

Chapter 4- The Wagon Ride

Chapter Summary-
The Griscoms have a new visitor. This visitor and Betsy  will be married. Betsy learns her sister will be moving but she can visit whenever she wants.

What we will cover in this chapter- 
Field trip- (wagon ride)

This was a short chapter. We decided to take a wagon ride to a pumpkin patch to pick pumpkins. The kids had fun and we bought a huge pumpkin!

Chapter 3- Peppermint Stick Candy

Chapter Summary-
Betsy's first day of school has arrived. She wears new cloths made for her and is given a peppermint stick. Her brother George is sad because he is too young to go to school. Betsy gives him the candy and is happy that that made George feel better.

History and Geography: William Penn and the Quakers
Betsy Family lives in Philadelphia. In 1692, a Quaker named William Penn came to America from England and founded the colony of Pennsylvania as a refuge for Quakers escaping religious prosecution in England. Betsy and her family were Quakers and life by this faith. Thee kids watched a you-tube video about William Penn and the Quakers. They also labeled the 13 colonies and completed a worksheet about William Penn.


Language Arts- Writing, Word Search
The children drew a picture and wrote about what they think Betsy Ross looks like. Then they read a shorter learn to read book about Betsy Ross.They also did a word search with vocabulary words. (The words were about Quakers)




Art- Coloring
The children colored a picture of the Quakers.
