The Story of George Washington Carver by Eva Moore- Chapter 5

Chapter Summary- 

George arrives in Neshsho and meets Aunt Maria and Uncle Andy. They take him in. Every day after school he helps clean and cook. Every Sunday  he goes to church and decides he wants to be a minster when he grows up.

 History and Geography- Last names

Lily and Aj learned that slaves did not have there own last name or identity. We talked about how when slaves became free they could choose any last name they wanted. Many took their Owners last names. 


Fine Arts- Cooking and Cleaning

We talked about the importance of learning how to cook and clean. Lily and Aj have to do chores around the house. They often cook dinner and help around the house. Here are some pictures of Lily making dinner, Aj cleaning the yard and both of the kids working together to bake a cake!
