The kids were blindfolded. They enjoyed trying to sniff out the last sausage. After we completed this experiment we talked about if it was difficult or easy to detect a sausage.  We also talked about if Helen's sense of smell was sharper because of her experiment.

Helen Keller introduction

Helen Keller by Margret Davidson

Book Summary-
A biography stressing the childhood of the woman who overcame the handicaps of being blind and deaf.

My children just finished this book and they were fascinated. Lily and Aj were eager to learn more about Braille and the consequences of being blind--though I had to ask them not to walk through the kitchen with their eyes closed. She loved the photos and can't wait to read about Annie Sullivan. A great book to show the triumph of the human spirit over adversity--and without pity!
