What we learned in this chapter-
Science: Heat
Science: Heat
It is very Hot in Philadelphia in July. Betsy grew hot walking down the street. Betsy talks about going up to the loft. Betsy doesn't understand why it would be hotter in the loft then on the ground. We talked about how heat rises. We also completed an experiment and watched a video on heat and temperature and radiation. We followed the chemistry lesson on https://allinonehomeschool.com/science-year-4/.
- Energy comes in lots of different forms. One form is heat.
- Watch this video on heat and temperature.
- Watch this video on heat energy.
- Put two jars of water out in the sun (or glasses). Make sure they have the same temperature of water in them. If you have a thermometer, measure the temperature of the water and record it.
- Wrap one jar in white paper. Wrap one jar in black paper.
- In half an hour, feel the water in each jar. Which is hotter? (Measure the temperature if you can.)
- Where did the heat come from?
- Watch these videos on radiation. Heat Radiation Heat Spectrum
- The sun’s heat got into the water through radiation.
- Draw a diagram that shows something on earth heating up due to radiation from the sun.
